Porsche Cayenne Cast: A luxury Roof Top Tent Porche Review

A roof tent where do you even begin? I mean usually shelling out a staggering 56 KGS benet a rwp uetha for me personally is a turn off. I wunt hyperbolize about having a barn of excess weight made of steel, and compromise aerodynamics when striving for super high speeds and fast acceleration. But, stuff like this is rarely available as a offer.

Pretty sure any sane man would have taken it as I have kids and the sun was shining bright over my head, in essence, I had literally no reason to not give it a try. But still there was a trade off. The Porsche Cayenne – and its coupe version here’ is by all means a Porsche – is primarily Built for driving. While other aspects were present they shone through brightly and were still There in spite of the excess weight added.

A quick question, how does that tent work? What do you have to do in order to put it together and how do you go about taking it down? I would not consider myself a practical person, I do not camp often. On one occasion, I attended a music festival. I will never forget the ache of waking up in a tent at 6 am on a sunday with my legs soaked. I also find it strange that drinking Malbec out of a plastic cup was how I began my day. Since then, I have sworn off using a tent of any shape or size.

However, the employees at the Porsche centre in Reading were kind enough to give me a brief overview of the tent. Many thanks to Naz for that. You simply unlock, fold, and attach a few support bars, and your job is done in minutes. Even a fool would be able to operate it without any trouble.

Now let’s talk about the experience of driving the Porsche Cayenne, what is that like?

Considering this article is not specially about reviewing the tent, it might come as a shock that we are still talking about it. But the truth is that at the end of the day, this is tent would be the main Canadian product of this article.

First impressions are pretty strong. Pulling onto the M4 in my first few yards, the effortless pickup and ride quality was evident. There was no drama in reaching the motorway speeds, the Porsche Cayenne cruised along nicely. It glides on the surface of the road, the adaptive air suspension is doing a splendid job. It is a £1,760 optional extra but it is a box that you would want to tick.

Here we have the Porsche Cayenne Coupe e-hybrid. I only realised after a couple of miles on the M4 that I had not got out of e-power mode. It had driven ‘on’ battery for all those times. This has dwindled the range somewhat. When I entered, it said it had 45 miles of electric range, after 10 miles it said it 25 miles left. Best to put it to hybrid mode, which is via the drive mode selector on the steering wheel. The battery use is throttled and the V6 comes into play very nicely as well.

In addition, there’s also a button in the drive selector. Press it and you get 20secs of maximum performance. All 470hp and the 650Nm of torque available at the tip of your right foot. This mode helps you achieve 0-62mph in 4.9secs, albeit the tent somewhat hampered this. Regardless, there is plenty of performance available.

£1,325 gets you rear axle steering which makes it possible for the rear wheels to turn along with the front wheels and adds a little bit of agility to the mix. Going through the curves of Porsche Cayenne during the off road feels great as the vehicle listens to you well and knows what to do and also performs well when it has a tent on top of it.

Living with the Porsche Cayenne

Another option which is worthy of ticking is surround view with active parking support which costs £1,116. As for the dimensions, the Porsche Cayenne measures 4.9 meters in length and around 2.2 meters in width which is not a compact vehicle. But the way this system is able to give an overhead view is excellent which makes getting out of a corner much easier.

That size brings with it great practicality. Even in coupe guise, there’s plenty of room for four passengers (you can have it as a five-seater at no extra cost) and a sizeable boot. A feeling of space would be supplemented by a panoramic glass roof in case there is no tent on top.

The Porsche Cayenne offers an organized and accessible interior with its almost minimalistic design incorporating very functional buttons and an intuitive infotainment system. Also, most tasks like disengaging various options on the car, such as disengaging the speed limit warning have also been simplified. With the assistance of steering wheels now one can easily turn off the lane keep assist without wasting time scrolling through the interface.

Operating the Porsche Cayenne is quite easy in contrast to many modern cars, coupled with the seamless layout of the control features. Soon one can expect high accuracy controls however for now physical controls for heaters and air conditioner have been fitted under the screen to ensure safety. Also the price of a surround system by Bose has been set at £1,052, although it is excellent but I believe it should have been included in the package.

Then came the tent. Look, it was a beautiful sunny Saturday. We were miles away from the city and it was a family day out. A picnic to be exact. Just the perfect setting. The children had fun, and I got to be that father everyone wanted for a short while. Who would not want that?! For the night, it could easily accommodate two people. It is very easy to pitch and surprisingly quite spacious. Best of all: it has a memory foam mattress.

Conclusion

I cannot imagine a worst activity than camping – however, in a specific scenario, even this experience would be worth it. All that is required is to hop into the porch and set-up a tent in the wilderness, it really is as easy as that. Camping is generally something a select few are willing to spend money as it is and remodeling the Porsche shouldn’t be an option.

Although, if the plastic is installed back on the car and wilderness is desired, then that is okay. But still, the vision to this idea is wonderful. I built a tent for my friend and his son, who is currently 7, in his drive way and as a result, were able to play out side. It It sure isn’t every day that you see two kids sitting inside of the Porsche, along with a tent, on the top of the car.

But then, when it is not in use then it is better to get rid of it. If the speed exceeds 45 mph then the tent starts creating a lot of noise, it is silent on its own, however, it can get bothersome at times. Just increase the volume in Bose instead for younger people. With that said, the tent itself advanced the whole experience to a new level.

The most successful new vehicle launch of the past ten years is undoubtedly the Cayenne which is the reason why it easier doesn’t bring much excitement on its own unlike its more diversified relatives, of which there aren’t many. They are burgeoned. Admittedly, I have been somewhat perplexed about the rationale behind SUV coupe design, but in this case, it works.

To the point, it is a very beautiful car, Yes. It’s all gentle and elegant. People keep Calm, after all, it’s a Porsche too. I do, but just not in a Porsche 911 way. The aspect of a fun driving car however is captured with the thin steering wheel, outstanding dynamics and superb acceleration attributes.

A few such weekends with it and one comes to a conclusion that, together with the car, they become an extended design rather than a grandma’s cutlery set that should e kept in a croft. Isn’t that the point. In fact, it did make me feel like it was mine although I was quite sad to part with it. But the competition is in between the Porsche Cayenne and too many other SVUs, winners are not hard to find.
